Welcome A WALK IN THE GARDEN DEVOTIONALS Hope & Encouragement for Life's Journey
You Shall Live!
On February 23, 2006, I had a dream that I shared with a number of Christian ladies who in turned shared it with their friends and loved ones. I am sharing it with you both male and female as it has ministered to others in their various trials, and I trust that this word will also uplift your spirit, and give you power to live a life of hope!
"O dry bones, hear the Word of the Lord, You shall live."
The hand of the Lord came upon me and brought me out in the spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. That was our brother Ezekiel as he begun to write about his supernatural encounter in Ezekiel 37.
Today, I went to work with a dream I had upon my bed last night that was powerful and has clung to me all day and won't let go. As I knelt in prayer pondering it, the Spirit of God led me to the book of Ezekiel and the valley of dry bones. As I later recounted it to my mom, my being erupted in tears, but afterwards a sweet calm, for I know the word has come for a purpose, for "He sent His word and He healed them."
Hear me now women of God. As I slept, I saw a lifeless woman in a hospital uniform upon a stately bed. She was laying upon her back with her face to the sky. She was apparently dead, but her face was extremely peaceful. As I kept looking at her, she suddenly appeared to be laying on her stomach with a hand behind her back. Startled, I exclaimed to those around, "Look she is on her stomach, and someone said, maybe the wind blew her over, but that seem odd, it would take more than a natural wind to blow over a dead person. We look again, a third time and the woman had disappeared. Everyone started searching for her.
As I knelt before God, my soul became overwhelmed by His presence as I thought on the dream. I reached for the bible and found the scripture on Ezekiel and the dry bones. The scripture is familiar to us Christians.
Ezekiel continues, "Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold there were very many in the open valley, and indeed they were very dry. And He said to me, "Son of man, can these bones live?" So I answered, "O Lord God, You know."
Again He said to me, "Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, "O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!
Thus says the Lord God to these bones: "Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live."
"I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you, and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord." So I prophesied as I was commanded, and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling, and the bones came together bone to bone.
Indeed as I looked, the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin came upon them, and the skin covered them over, but there was no breath in them.
Also he said to me, "Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man and say to the breath, "Thus says the Lord God, "Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live."
So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.
Then He said to me, "Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They indeed say, "Our bones are dry, our hope is lost, and we ourselves are cut off!"
"Therefore prophesy and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: "Behold, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up from your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. "
"Then you shall know that I Am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up from your graves. "
"I will put My Spirit in you and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken it and performed it," says the Lord."
I have deliberately underlined the word "you" above. So many of you are probably feeling like the house of Israel, that all your hope is gone, that you've been cut off. Yes you name the Name of Christ and you're saved and your name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life. But your joy has been sapped by your various trials and tribulations. You've kept trusting and God has carried you through, but you have believed the lie that what is dead is dead and there is no more to look forward to in your lives or your dreams. So you have settled for mediocrity, and you wear your reproach like a garment. But O how I feel the Lord inside me say. Tell my daughters. I AM the Lord your God, I change not. I have not forgotten you and the many afflictions you have suffered, but your time is now, to awake and not just meditate on my word, but to speak it out loud. Those things that are dead WILL hear the word of the Lord, if you speak to them, as I spoke through my servant Ezekiel, saying, "O dry bones, you shall live." Do not give up, my word in your mouth will destroy the heavy yokes and burdens. Speak to your mountain, speak to your sons and daughters, speak and don't be silent, for they must obey my commands. For I have called you a holy people unto myself, a royal priesthood. My hand is always outstretched; I stand ready to do my good pleasure. As you go forth as David ran against Goliath, with my word in his mouth, many strongholds will crumble before you. For I the Lord your God go before you. Arise, and bring me the spoils. I will RESTORE, for I AM the Lord God, I change not! My word is forever.
I know that even though my dream involved a woman, there are men who too feel like their hope is gone. God is no respecter of persons. There is a mighty wind blowing, there is a rattling sound, the Spirit of the Lord is moving. Encourage the whole body of Christ, with these words, "YOU SHALL LIVE." For God desires to restore homes and communities, and stop the breaches, to bring life up from the grave, (graves of every sort, literally and figuratively.) Go forth in the name of the Lord and declare His word!
