Bible Words of Comfort

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
His mercies never come to an end; they
are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
"The Lord is my portion," says my soul,
"Therefore I hope in Him."
(Lamentations 3:22-24)

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
because the Lord has anointed Me to
preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives, and
the opening of the prison to those who
are bound; to proclaim the acceptable
year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance
of our God; to comfort all who mourn,
to console those who mourn in Zion,
to give them beauty for ashes, the oil
of joy for mourning, the garment of
praise for the spirit of heaviness;
that they may be called trees of
righteousness, the planting of the Lord,
that He may be glorified.
(Isaiah 61:1-3)

Come to Me, all you who labor and are
heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn
from Me, for I am gentle and lowly
in heart and you will find rest for
your souls.
(Matthew 11:28 & 29)

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth,
give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
(John 14:27)

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace.
In the world, you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer:
I have overcome the world.
(John 16:33)

If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I
will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper,
that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth,
whom the world cannot receive, because it neither
sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells
with you and will be in you. I will not leave
you orphans; I will come to you.
(John 14:15-18)

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts
us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort
those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which
we ourselves are comforted by God. For as the sufferings
of Christ abound in us, so our consolation
also abounds through Christ.
(2 Corinthians 1:3-5)

Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted.
(Matthew 5:4)

For the Lord will comfort Zion, He will
comfort all her waste places; He will make
her wilderness like Eden, and her desert
like the garden of the Lord; joy and
gladness will be found in it; thanksgiving
and the voice of melody.
(Isaiah 51:3)

Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea,
 "Peace be still!"
And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
(Mark 4:39)

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through
the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through
the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.
For I am the Lord your God. The Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
(Isaiah 43:2-3)

Even to your old age, I am He, and even to gray hairs I will carry you!
I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.
(Isaiah 46:4)

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in
green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will
fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort
me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness
and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall
dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
(Psalm 23)

Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. He who continually
goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless
come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
(Psalm 126:6)

Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee:
because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord forever: for in
the Lord JE-HO'VAH is everlasting strength.
(Isaiah 26:3-4)

Cast thine burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee.
He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
(Psalm 55:22)

He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might
He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be
weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who
wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount
up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint.
(Isaiah 40:29-31)

In the multitude of my thoughts within me,
thy comforts delight my soul.
(Psalm 94:19)

When my heart is overwhelmed;
lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
(Psalm 61:2)

He who dwells in the secret place of
the Most High shall abide under the
shadow of the Almighty. I will say
of the Lord, "He is my refuge and
fortress; My God, in Him I will trust."
(Psalm 91:1 & 2)

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
(Matthew 5:10)

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.
(Psalm 116:15)

Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me!
For my soul trusts in You; and in the shadow
of Your wings I will make my refuge,
until these calamities have passed by.
(Psalm 57:1)

Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His, and give thanks
at the remembrance of His holy name. For His anger
is but for a moment, His favor is for life; weeping may
endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
(Psalm 30:4-5)

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord,
thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray
unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek
me and find me, when ye shall search for
me with all your heart.
(Jeremiah 29:11-13)

But may the God of all grace, who called us to
His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you
have suffered a while, perfect, establish,
strengthen and settle you.
To Him be the glory and the dominion
forever and ever. Amen.
(1 Peter 5:10-11)

For we have not a High Priest which cannot
be touched with the feeling of our infirmities,
but was in all points  tempted like we are,
yet without sin. Let us therefore come
boldly unto the throne of grace that we
may obtain mercy, and find grace to
help in time of need.
(Hebrews 4:15-16)

Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher
of our faith, who for the joy that
was set before Him endured the cross,
despising the shame, and has sat down
at the right hand of the throne of God.
(Hebrews 12:2)
