God is in the details of our lives, not the devil

Life has its challenges — Be it some important undertaking, or simply living our day to day lives, confronted by, and surrounded by details of one sort or another.

For those whose trust is in the Almighty, we can rest assured, that the Lord will lead and guide us; that He will perfect all that concerns us; that He is working all things together for our good; that He will make the crooked places straight, that light has dawn for us in darkness.

There is absolutely nothing that is too difficult for the Lord. He is the all wise God, Creator of heaven and earth.

Though buffeted, we are not ignorant of the devil's devices. Jesus said, "Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh and hath nothing in me." (John 14:30)

God is in the details of our lives, not the devil.

The Bible speaks of Daniel and Joseph: Godly men who were able to tell and interpret hard dreams that the soothsayers and magicians could not. There is a wisdom of this world, and then there's the wisdom from on high. God is our wisdom and peace. We need not fear.

Happy Easter Sunday!

Christ is Risen!

"In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake, for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: and for fear of him the keepers did shake and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for He is risen, as He said..." Matthew 28:1-6

The Former Things Are Passed Away...

Revelation 21:4
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."

Are You at a Crossroad?

Take the hand of Jesus...

Are you at a crossroad? Is your heart beating frantically and your loins shaking uncontrollably? Not sure where to turn? Is your mind racing around like a whirlwind? Deliberately take your cup and draw from the wells of God’s salvationtake a drink of His wisdom, and eat a generous serving of His Word. It’s a road-map and a compass that will chart your course in life and give you the direction you need, when you lose your way or faced with a dilemma. As His Word penetrates your innermost being, flooding your thoughts and enlightening your heart, you will find that you can see clearly the hand of God, outstretched, patiently waiting to lead you forward in triumph! You will hear Him say, follow Me, I am the way, the truth and the life.

Devotion: Walk On Water

Matthew 14:22-33

And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

And in the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spoke unto them, saying, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.

And Peter answered him and said, Lord if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

From the outset, we read that the Lord constrained his friends to get into a ship. Without a doubt, Jesus knew exactly what was going to happen and he purposed it this way to teach them that 1. He is all powerfulHe made the sea, he can walk on it; he made the wind, he can cause it to cease. 2. When we exercise faith in him and do what he tells us to do, we can do the impossible, because with him, all things are possible.

Can you imagine? Jesus and his friends probably had a good buddy laugh and a high five or two, once they were settled in the ship. Peter probably expressed how good it felt to walk on water. Remember now: Peter did have some courage and faith: he said to the Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

What transpired after that, we can all identify with. We hear the Lord when he bids us to come, to go. We believe him, but suddenly, everything around us looms large and we begin to focus on our weaknesses and circumstances, instead of the strength of the One who has made us, and is able to cause his power to work mightily through us.

When we read this scripture, we all want to walk on water. And through faith in the Son of God, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, according to his will and purpose for our lives.

Is your boat being tossed to and fro by the waves of life? Are vehement winds causing fears to settle in? God doesn't want us to stay in the boat on the stormy sea of life. We can get out, and do exploits in his name. We can exercise faith even in the storms; we can conquer; we can overcome; we can take dominion over them.

A Prayer:
Lord Jesus, you have bid us come to you. Help us to come boldly and with faith in our hearts, trusting that you are able to cause your power to work in us to the glory of your name. Your strength is made perfect in our weakness.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ...

Scripture Meditation

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls." (1 Peter 1:3-9)

A Declaration of Praise & Worship

 Praise the Lord!

Lord God, Creator of the ends of the earth, we are finite, but You are infinite. The whole earth is filled with Your glory. We bow our hearts in worship of Your Majesty, for there is none beside You.

Day after day, season after season, we see Your glorious works. Draw us closer to You; enlighten our hearts that we might know You better. Open our spiritual eyes and ears. Fill us with Your wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Cause us to grow in Your grace.

Lord Jesus, You whom they pierced, God's sacrificial Lamb—You are the Savior of the world. Thank You for your grace and mercy. We know the world we live in will not continue as is forever. For You who have ascended on high, will descend in like fashion and make all things new. You are Ruler of all rulers, King of all kings, the God of all flesh. We bless and praise your holy name. We worship at Your throne of grace.

PSALM 150

PRAISE the LORD!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty firmament!
Praise Him for His mighty acts;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet;
Praise Him with the lute and harp!
Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!
Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with clashing cymbals!
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD!

Quickened With His Precepts

Forever, O Lord, thy Word is settled heaven, thy faithfulness is unto all generations: Thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. They continue this day according to thine ordinances for all are thy servants. Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction. I will never forget thy precepts, for with them thou hast quickened me. I am thine, save me, for I have sought thy precepts. The wicked have waited for me: to destroy me but I will consider thy testimonies. I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding broad. Psalm 119:89-96

Today, we're looking into the holy scriptures and discovering secrets in the secret place—nuggets of truth to set us free from the troops of darkness that would seek to destroy your faith, your life.

The aforementioned scripture discloses, that in affliction, it wasn't the arm of flesh, neither was it chariots of iron, or the help of man that delivered from affliction, but hear it now: "I should then have perished in mine affliction. I will never forget thy precepts for with them thou hast quickened me."

Precept is defined as  1. A commandment or direction given as a rule of action or conduct.  2. An injunction as to moral conduct.

God's precepts are His Word—His direction for us to conduct ourselves in ways that would be pleasing to Him and show forth His praise. To build character and give us strength. As we delight ourselves in His precepts, we are quickened in the inner man.

God's precepts are all encompassing of His love and power, and brings with them enormous joy to the one who seeks and obeys them.

Many a time on life's journey, we experience afflictions of various sorts. Some are of our own making due to poor choices, lack of wisdom, knowledge and understanding, or not having discretion and moderation. Others due to persecution for being a follower of Christ and an ambassador of His gospel.

Know that God is able to raise us up (revive), and make us stand firm. His Word will quicken and sustain us in our weakest, darkest moments. His Word is exceedingly powerful and quick, and accomplishes all that it is sent to do.

Meditate on His Word; delight in it. Bare our hearts before God, and wait patiently on Him. He will see us through. Bless our faithful God! Amen.

Walking in the Light of God's Word

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. {Romans 10:17}

As we walk in the light of God's word, our faith becomes stronger and stronger. It's not sufficient to know the word, but to live the word. The word is our daily bread; the bread is life.

The Holy Spirit uses the word to transform our way of thinking, to give us insight into the attributes of God. We also learn what is pleasing to Him and what is not.

"... He who received seed upon the good ground is he who hears the word of God and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces; some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty." - Matthew 13:23

The word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our pathway. *See Psalm 119:105

The word hidden in our hearts keeps us from sinning, from grieving the Holy Spirit by whom we are sealed.

Therefore, let us draw near to God, and let His word take root in our hearts, and bring forth much fruit.

Mark 4:1-20

A New Year Has Begun

Happy New Year!

Greetings, fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord. Grace and peace to you, through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Thanks be to our great God, who has preserved us to this day. A new year has begun, and we know not what the future holds, but we know Him who holds the future and each of us in His hands. We know Him who has promised never to leave us nor forsake us. Our lives and times are truly in His hands and we are secure in the bundle of the Lord.

We thank Him for the road we traveled in 2013. We thank Him for his faithfulness and His mercies. We thank Him for His strength and for being our fourth man in the fire during our past trials. We thank Him for making us to grow in His grace and the knowledge of Him and filling us with His unspeakable joy and peace! We thank Him for opening the gates for the saints who have finished their earthly sojourn.

As we continue on our journey, let us purpose to trust in Him who has begun a good work in us and will complete it. Knowing this, we look forward with hope and great expectation. He is charting our course and we need not fear wind or rain. We position ourselves on this new threshold to do the Father's business. We empty ourselves and leave behind those things that belong to yesterday. Do not be detained for excess baggage. This is a new day! Embrace the possibilities and the challenges.

Jesus, the Author and the Finisher of our faith!

All the best in 2014 by the grace and mercies of our Lord, Jesus Christ!
