Good Friday Prayer & Scripture Readings

Thank You Heavenly Father for Your boundless love. Thank You Jesus for carrying the weight of our sins on Your shoulders that day. Thank you for Your forgiveness and hope, even eternal life in Your presence. Thank You Holy Spirit for the work You are doing in the hearts of men, to reconcile us to God. Amen.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Isaiah 53:4-6
Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray: we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

Faith in God: The Foundation for Victorious Living

In order to truly experience victorious living, we need an experience of making the Lord Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. We can overcome the world having the Lord in full control of our lives. Faith in Him declares that no matter the circumstances, no matter the obstacles, we overcome through the blood of Jesus and faith in His finished work.

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:10)

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4)

Scripture Meditation (Isaiah 55:10-11)

God's Word:
For as the rain comes down and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones. (Proverbs 16:24)

Words of Comfort From God's Word

Words of Comfort:

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. (Isaiah 43:2-3)

Cast thine burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee. He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. (Psalm 55:22)

He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might, He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:29-31)

Christian Journey: Pruning

Pruning involves cutting away, getting rid of, removing. In the case of plants, trees and shrubs, that could be twigs, branches, stems, roots. Basically anything that may inhibit the plant's growth and its ability to produce and flourish. Pruning may also involve trimming what seems like good parts in order to make them even better. Sometimes, the branches are many, but there is little fruit. Pruning is good and beneficial for plant life. We being the planting of the Lord and trees of His righteousness, also need to be pruned, so that we may bear much fruit.

Jesus taught, "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit." (John 15:1-2)

Inspirational Thought For Today

How are you on this blessed Saturday morning? This is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. My joy is not based on worldly pleasures or persons, but the knowledge of Christ who gave His life for me, that my sins may be forgiven and that I may have eternal life. Hallelujah!

Today's Devotion: Merciful God

Today's Devotion: Merciful God
A Walk In The Garden

When we call upon the name of the Lord, He will say, "Here I am." While musing on this loving relationship with our Heavenly Father, opened the Holy Bible and behold, there on the page is Jeremiah 33. It reads, "Thus says the Lord who made it, the Lord who formed it to establish it (the Lord is His name): Call to Me and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things which you do not know. " - Jeremiah 33:2,3.

Though the children of Israel and Judah were going into captivity because of their iniquities and sins, merciful God promised restoration— health and healing, abundance of peace and truth, cleansing, joy, honor and praise. This is the Lord God we serve, the same yesterday, today and forever.

"Praise the Lord of hosts, for the Lord is good, for His mercy endures forever." - Jeremiah 33:11.
