The first Adam formed from the dust of the ground, into whom God breathed the breath of life, and became a living soul, fell short of the glory of God. Both Adam and his wife Eve, made in the image of God, disobeyed the commandment of God, not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. All their descendants, the human race, inherited the sinful nature. "Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart." (Genesis 6:5-6)
