Grow in Grace and the Knowledge of His Will

Inspirational Thought For Today

What we want for ourselves or others is not necessarily what God has in His plans for our lives. Grow in grace and the knowledge of His will.

What a Merciful God!

Bless the Lord, O my soul

David was a man who oftentimes acknowledged his guilt and his sins before God. He had a repentant heart, and was sincere in his relationship with his God—that much is evident in the many psalms he wrote.

Here was a man who understood God's mercy was plentiful, and wasted no time in approaching God's throne of grace and mercy, when faced with his own shortcomings, and the many dangers he encountered.

He writes, "The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in mercy." Psalm 103:8.

David had experienced God's forgiveness, His deliverance, and His power more than a few times, and his was a life orchestrated by praise and thanksgiving to God, for His Sovereignty and the many benefits afforded those who fear the Lord.

May we like the "Man after God's own heart," serve God faithfully and do His will. May we like David, say continually, "Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name!"

Life Manual For Victorious Living

Wisdom from on High
The teachings of the Lord are our manual for victorious living. So much of what Jesus teaches is simple in its presentation, but yet so many find it difficult to grasp and to do as he commands, but the Holy Spirit teaches us. Christ desires that we come to him and learn of him. We forfeit so many blessings if we don’t humbly sit at his feet and learn. Worldly wisdom pales in comparison to heavenly wisdom; it is foolishness to God. (See 1 Corinthians 3:19)

We ought to reckon that as important as it is to be educated about the world in which we live, such learning should not take the preeminence, exalting men and fables over the knowledge of God the Creator.

Paul the Apostle was a brilliant man by earthly and religious standards, but when God apprehended him, he concluded that all his achievements were but “dung.” He knew that salvation was not to be found in any of these things, not even his religious credentials.

Armed with faith and the knowledge of Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings, we can attain to the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

“Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours. Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life or death, or things present, or things to come, all are yours. And ye are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.” (1 Corinthians 3:21-22)

SCRIPTURE MEDITATIONS:
1 Corinthians Chapter 1; 1 Corinthians Chapter 2; Philippians Chapter 3

Humility
When thou are bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room, lest a more honorable man than thou be bidden of him; and he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, “Give this man place,” and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room. But when thou are bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room, that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, “Friend, go up higher.” Then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased, and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. (Luke 14:8-11)

Kindness
When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbors, lest they also bid thee again and a recompense be made thee. But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind, and thou shall be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee, for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just. (Luke 14:12-14)

Today's Scripture Meditation: Who Can Find a Virtuous Wife?

Who can find a virtuous wife?
For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life. She seeks wool and flax, and willingly works with her hands. She is like the merchant ships, she brings her food from afar. She also rises while it is yet night, and provides food for her household, and a portion for her maidservants. She considers a field and buys it; from her profits she plants a vineyard. She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms. She perceives that her merchandise is good, and her lamp does not go out by night. She stretches out her hands to the distaff, and her hand hold the spindle. She extends her hand to the poor, yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household is clothed with scarlet. She makes tapestry for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple. Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies sashes for the merchants. Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all." Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.
-Proverbs 31:10-31

Jesus Satisfies My Soul

Inspirational Thought & Scripture Verse
For Today

Jesus satisfies my soul. I am full; I am content. "Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing." (Psalm 34:8-10)

Devotion: A Bowl of Fresh Fruit

Fresh fruit, is one of the best things human beings can put into their bodies. It's quite amazing, what a delicious bowl of fruit, eaten daily, can do to suddenly perk you up, energize, and aid in restoring the body to its optimum, balanced level of function.

The Holy Spirit produces His fruit in our lives. We are unable to manufacture or cultivate this fruit on our own. Only a Holy God can make this possible, since left to ourselves, the sinful nature will always rob us of the vital nutrients that we need, to be a true child of God.

Every Season Has a Purpose

Inspirational Thought For Today

The winter season has passed... even so in our spiritual lives, we recognize that God takes us through our seasons in order that Christ may be formed in us -- that we may grow in grace and the knowledge of him who owns our lives; we are not our own. Every season has a purpose, and doesn't last forever. Rejoice! God is the chief architect of our lives and we are instruments of His grace and power.
